JR Schmidt’s LEGO New York City
They say ‘art imitates life‘ and vise versa. Seems quite the case with visual artist JR Schimdt, and we can’t say we’re complaining. JR creates a colorful 3D illustration of the Big Apple using everyone’s favorite childhood toy, LEGO as its basis. Highlighting most of Manhattan and some of the city’s outer boroughs, the piece was constructed with the aid of maps and satellite imagery to mimic the city’s look as close as possible. Aside from its print/canvas form, the image has been reproduced for use on stationaries and iPhone cases which are now available for purchase exclusively from the artist.
